CELLA MONTE: village and landscape
The settlement has medieval origins, although the current building fabric dates back to the 17th century.
The village stretches over the hillside and overlooks Via Barbano. The current appearance of the walls and facades of the palaces and houses is due to the Mayor Fiorella Cavagnero Coppo (1975-1995) who spent all his life before the premature death of the village and the territory of Cella Monte proposing To bare the stone walls of the canton of which the houses were made.
In addition to that he built a community service area (present Carpino bar and playgrounds), a picnic area and a belvedere point. The legacy of Fiorella has been understood and developed by its successors with the formation of the modern Ecomuseum of the stone of the canton.
The ECOMUSEUM is not the classic museum with works and paintings; Here the parish house is exhibited after discovering the singular overlaid loggia facade and infernings, with a photographic exhibition of the reliefs carried out by the Istituto Leardi di Casale and the possibility to visit the inferno under the parish house.
Infernot are underground underground windows, usually located beneath the cellars of private homes to preserve only bottled wine and the finest vintages. They originate largely in the 1870s and beyond. Hell is part of UNESCO's treasures.

Cited in a Barbarossa diploma of 1164, it was the feast of the Aleramici of Monferrato, who built a castle.
He then went to the Paleologists, who expanded their fortifications and promoted the construction of the Servant of Mary (15th century).
Finally, it was the fief of the Counts Callori, who maintained possession until the nineteenth century. The subject of clashes and devastations during the Monferrato's succession wars was also upset by a plague epidemic in 1691. In 1703 he entered the Monferrato with the Savoia home domains.
The church of San Bartolomeo is an imposing building built in the 18th and 19th centuries, has a monumental facade with an imposing classical pronaos. The square in the west allows a magnificent view of the Monferrato hills. Inside there are frescoes by Luigi Morgari and a crucifix of the sixteenth century.
Palazzo Callori, residence of the lords of Vignale, was built in the 15th century and was expanded in the 18th century. It has an impressive staircase that joins the underlying garden. It is the seat of the Regional Monument of the Monferrato and is part of the circuit of the "Castelli Aperti" of Basso Piedmont.
At Vignale, every year a significant cultural event is called "Vignale Danza": a summer event during which dance companies come from all over the world. Since the summer of 2015, the Vignale Monferrato Festival has been organized
From an economic point of view, Lu has always been an agricultural country. Of a particular agriculture such as that of hilly terrain: small plot of land climbing on the slopes of the hills, sometimes sweating sometimes sweeter. It is above all the land of vineyards (since 1906 there is the Cantina Sociale), which is increasingly replaced by new crops encouraged by the European Union: the expanses of vineyards are now replaced by fields of corn, barley, wheat, sunflowers, hazelnuts, beetroot , Hay. But Lu is not only a land of direct growers, it is also a land of restaurateurs, workers (daily commuters to Alexandria, Casale and Valenza) and traders who, once boasting of many, are replacing the quality of products and services offered.
